Due to the rapid urbanization and economic development in Shanghai, widespread demolition of old housing poses significant challenges to the preservation of cultural heritage and social stability. This interactive VR building project aims to challenge the prevailing paradigm by focusing on the customization of individual homes in the form of an immersive game for all to use in the aftermath of demolition. By incorporating specialized modules, we aim to provide long-lasting residents with the opportunity to shape their living environment to better reflect their ever-changing needs and identities. To further the traditional Chinese culture within the project, the ancient Chinese method of Tenon and Mortise Joints is used in the creation of these homes. Ultimately, this strategy seeks to create more customizable individual homes that foster continuity and stability, contributing to a more cohesive and socially integrated community, rather than prioritizing short-term economic gains
